GlamAR

Building an immersive commerce platform from scratch

GlamAR started with a simple idea: make digital products more interactive by letting people see, try, and experience them before buying.

The challenge was turning that technology into a product that could work across beauty, eyewear, jewellery, fashion, furniture, and other categories.

I helped shape GlamAR from a technology-led product into a broader platform connecting AR, 3D, AI, and commerce.

The challenge

The platform had to serve two very different users:

Brands needed to create, configure, and deploy immersive experiences.

Shoppers needed a simple way to discover, try, and evaluate products.

The underlying technology could be complex. The experience couldn’t be.

The product direction

I structured the experience around four core capabilities:

Visualize
3D models, 360° views, product configurators and virtual photography.

Try
Virtual try-on and AR experiences.

Personalize
AI-powered skin analysis, recommendations and AI-assisted shopping.

Immerse
Virtual stores, spaces and interactive brand experiences.

This gave the platform a common structure while allowing each category to have its own experience.

Designing the AI experience

AI became part of the shopping journey rather than a separate chatbot.

For example:

Analyze → Recommend → Try → Decide

A shopper could analyze their skin, receive relevant product recommendations, and then experience those products virtually.

Designing for scale

GlamAR also needed to work across different brands, categories and technical environments.

I focused on creating reusable patterns across:

  • AR and 3D experiences

  • AI interactions

  • Product configuration

  • B2B workflows

  • Consumer experiences

  • SDK and API touchpoints

The design principle

Expose the capability. Hide the complexity.

A shopper shouldn’t need to understand AR, AI or computer vision to use the product. A brand shouldn’t need to understand the underlying technology to deploy it.

My role

I worked across product strategy, UX architecture, interaction design, visual design, design systems, AR/3D experiences, AI interactions and B2B workflows.

Outcome

GlamAR evolved into a platform bringing AR, 3D, AI and immersive commerce into a single product experience.

The work was less about designing an AR feature and more about turning complex technology into a product people could actually use.
